:: Lara Croft ::
Lara Croft will, of course, be played by Angelina Jolie, having beaten off competition from Elizabeth Hurley, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Famke Jannsen and Jennifer Lopez (or is that J-Lo?), although much of that is just rumour and Paramount insist that Jolie was always the first choice for the part. Lara was born in 1968 and educated in Wimbledon, London, until the age of 16, when she was sent to Gordonstoun Boarding School in Elgin, Scotland, for two years, followed by three years at a Swiss finishing school. It was at Gordonstoun (Prince Charles' school) that she discovered the joys of both rock climbing and shooting. When not globe-trotting, Lara lives in the family mansion in Surrey, England. She writes travel books in order to fund her tomb-raiding expeditions. She is unmarried. As a nice touch, her official bio at laracroft.co.uk lists her favourite film as Deliverance, starring Jon Voight. Back to top

:: Alex ::
Daniel Craig (star of BBC's Our Friends in the North) will play Alex, Lara's former lover and fellow tomb raider. Interviewed in the UK edition of Harper's & Queen, he commented, "It's exciting [to be involved in a big budget movie]. 'I'm feeling my way slowly and hopefully I'm getting control.' On his co-star, he added that those lips are for real: "I know for sure they are. They're not as big close-up. But you know how you put on a couple of pounds when you go on screen? Well, hers go on there. She's absolutely phenomenally gorgeous." Back to top Chris Barrie Best known on British TV for sitcoms such as Red Dwarf and The Brittas Empire, Barrie will play the faithful butler, Hillary. |
