Being from a showbusiness family, both children were given middle names which could easily be used as surnames if either child decided to try to make their way in the world without having the Voight name hanging over them. Jon and Marcheline divorced in 1976 and the children went to live with their mother in New York, where Angie later joined the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute and studied film at night classes at NYU. |
